Swift Bedding sponsor Team Crisp Eventing

image001As the 2015 British eventing season gets underway Swift Horse Bedding Pellets is proud to announce their sponsorship of Team Crisp for the 2015 season.

Team Crisp is a family team comprising Tom and Sophie – both fantastically experienced competitors who have taken part in CCI****events at home and internationally.

Tom’s 2014 season was particularly good; finishing 14th at Luhmhulen CCI**** and a second double clear and finishing 11th at Burghley CCI**** on Cooly’s Luxury. The future looks strong for this family run eventing team with a number of horses coming up through the ranks and the strong training and preparation ethos needed to rise further up in the eventing world.

Tom tells us a bit more about his life long love of horses, his ambitions and why he thinks wood pellets offer a better alternative:

“I have been eventing now for over 20 years and have been involved with or around horses ever since I can remember. Although when I was growing up my family wasn’t keen riders we had horses from a young age – we even kept one in the garden! A career in the equine world was always my ambition and after finishing school I headed off to Ireland for six months and then around the UK on lots of pupil placements. This time definitely helped me enormously – giving me a fantastic breadth of knowledge and experience across a range of yards. “

Eventing is a passion

“Eventing became my main focus in 1998 and I have been working hard to improve my placing ever since then. Eventing really was the only discipline for me – its unpredictability keeps me hooked and, in my opinion, it is truly the ultimate equestrian sport. As with most people involved in the equestrian world my days are totally focused on caring and training the horses. A typical day consists of – get up, eat, train horses, eat, train horses, sleep! You really do have to put in the work to reap the rewards.”

Of course all horse owners, whether they ride purely for pleasure or professionally, take the health of their horse incredibly seriously, however this just notches up a gear when it comes to stabling eventing horses. Tom comments: “Horses are put before people here!”
