Monica Ballard, 27, from Sittingbourne, Kent, enjoyed a successful Championship Show at this weekend’s Dodson & Horrell National Amateur & Veteran Championships after winning the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur 1.00m Championship title.
Monica was crowned 2013 Champion on her own 15 year-old bay mare, My Amazing Grace. The combination was drawn last to go in the jump off and they beat off the challenge from over one hundred other competitors in the Championship, which was held at Aintree Equestrian Centre on Sunday 17th November 2013.
Annalise Kerr, Marketing Manager at Dodson & Horrell, presented Monica and My Amazing Grace with their Championship Rug and Trophy.
During September, October and the beginning of November, eligible horse and rider combinations competed for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur & Veteran Championships.
Monica and My Amazing Grace qualified for the Championships after winning the second round that was held at Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex in Rugby, Warwickshire on Saturday 12th October 2013.
The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships gave amateur combinations the opportunity to contest an end of year final over four different heights of class – 90cm, 1.00m, 1.10m and 1.15m and the National Veteran Riders Championships are spilt into minor and major categories.
Competition started at 8.00am on Thursday 14th November 2012 and continued right through until the evening of Sunday 17th November 2012. Over the four days, more than 1,400 entries were taken.
