On Saturday 20th July Blue Barn equestrian centre was officially re-opened with a special gala horse show (organised by Colette’s Horse Shows) to celebrate the considerable improvements to the show venue and specifically the brand new outdoor arena.
The event included show jumping from cross poles to 90cm, ridden showing and in-hand showing with classes to suit everyone from hunters and riding horses to lead rein and fancy dress.
One of the most popular showing classes of the day was the mountain and moorland won by Sophie Court and Canal Dun, who went on take the ridden championship. And in the in-hand ring it was another mountain and moorland pony Derry Mist and handler Hannah Naylor that won the championship. The fancy dress class proved one of the hardest to judge however, with a good number of entries and a very high standard of innovative costumes.
The event was very kindly sponsored by Barretts Land Rover (Ashford) and Laura from the company came along to the event to present rosettes and sashes to the winners. Other individual class sponsors included Clip Clop Equine and Dog Products (Great Chart) and Equus Properties.
Alongside the horse show there were a number of side shows, a bbq and a small shopping village with tack stands and charities in attendance. Everyone seemed to enjoy the show and many kind comments were received.
Kate Morris, owner and manager of Blue Barn said ‘The Gala Re-opening of Blue Barn signifies the new era for an Equestrian Centre in the South East set to rival the best of the best! The day was a celebration of all the hard work and gave a chance for everyone to come and enjoy the facilities, try the new arenas and enjoy a fun family day out.’
‘We have been overwhelmed by the level of support, both by the local community and people from much farther afield, most of whom have had some connection with Blue Barn in the past, and all of whom have welcomed the restoration of this place back to, and even beyond, it’s former glory. With British Dressage and British Showjumping set to make a speedy return, we have great hopes for a bright bright future for Blue Barn and are already making further investment plans to ensure it reaches it’s full potential!’
The event was well supported with all 3 over-flow car parks being used! And the new 60×20 outdoor arena proved very popular with the riders at the show. Colette has further events planned at the venue including combined training on 4th august and show jumping on the last friday of every month. For dates and schedules – www.cbequine.co.uk.
